What to expect when you’re expecting…

We are a small team that works collaboratively to renovate and create ecologically minded garden spaces. This is an outline of our project process for most hardscaping, planting, and ‘complete space’ design.

  • We meet in person for roughly 1-2 hours to discuss your preferences, priorities, and goals for the space. We also gather important site information to help us plan your project.

Here is our scheduling link for the initial consultation.

  • Following the initial meeting, we’ll put together either an estimate or proposal, depending on the scope of work.

Proposals define terms for a working relationship. Estimates are quotes for the work discussed.

This phase helps us ensure we can meet your objectives with a budget you’re comfortable with. If necessary, we can discuss ways to modify the original idea or implement the work in phases.

To move forward, we require an initial deposit on the project.

  • This phase varies depending on the project. Within the design and planning phase, we’ll start with the big picture (conceptual design) and then dial down into all the details (plant and materials selection).

Straightforward, standalone hardscaping projects—like patios and paths—typically require minimal design work beyond the initial discussion of the work.

Planting design can be as simple as a loose plant palette, or as involved as a detailed layout and planting schematic.

Full space redesigns are typically more complex. We will provide an estimated timeline for design in the proposal.

  • When we can break ground depends on many factors, from the weather to plant availability to when you may be going out of town. We will confirm a start date when we have the project deposit and a clear work plan for the project.
